The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre has published a new science for policy report on technology foresight for public funding of innovation.
The report looks at six technology foresight methods which can help to inform funding decisions, mainly through the European Innovation Council, but also other EU services and public funding organisations in member states.
They include using large language models to help identify knowledge gaps and new areas for research; and the Delphi method, which relies on expert judgement and aims to reach a consensus about future developments.
