The ERC has received 198 project proposals for its new funding scheme 'ERC Plus Grants'. The competition, the first of its kind, closed for applications on 2 September 2026. The new funding scheme is designed for outstanding researchers from Europe and anywhere in the world with bold ideas and a vision for transformative research that goes beyond the scope of existing ERC programmes. The call is part of the ERC Work Programme for 2026 with €210 million earmarked for ERC Plus Grants.
