Research data from photon and neutron experiments are to become easier to find, access and reuse in the long term. This is the aim of the “Data from Photon and Neutron Experiments for NFDI” (DAPHNE4NFDI) consortium, which has been in existence since 2021. It is one of several discipline-specific consortia within the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) and brings together the expertise of universities and research institutes. Kiel University (CAU) is also involved.
€8.3 million initially available for the second funding phase until the end of 2028. DAPHNE4NFDI is therefore one of the ten consortia whose continued funding was approved in the second of a total of three NFDI funding rounds. The German federal and state governments are providing a total of around €71 million for these ten consortia from October 2026 until the end of 2028 initially. The funding decision is based on recommendations by the German Research Foundation (DFG). A decision on continued funding for DAPHNE4NFDI until 2031 will be made following a renewed evaluation.
