On 24 June, CESAER published a position ‘Revitalise the European Institute of Innovation & Technology’. In this positionthe association provides recommendations on how to revitalise the EIT and ensure it stays fit for purpose in an increasingly complex and changing landscape. CESAER states that in recent years the administrative burden and overregulation have grown, which detract from the EIT’s primary focus. In the paper, the association recommends that EIT refocuses on its core mission of innovation-focused education and training, particularly targeting early-career and young talent through industry-university ecosystems. In addition the EU should realign the funding model of EIT away from profit outcomes and towards training and educational outcomes. Finally, CESAER proposes to enhance synergies and to establish a robust monitoring and assessment frameworks across all its activities.
