The European Commission is hosting a webinar on the new call for proposals concerning the implementation of the Green Deal Data Space (GDDS).
The action (DIGITAL-2024-CLOUD-AI-06-GREENDEAL) is expected to deploy a technical infrastructure and governance mechanism for the GDDS with related use cases. It should enable reusing and sharing data from existing relevant private and public data ecosystems and data spaces, which will feed new services and applications that contribute to reaching the objectives of the Green Deal.
With the aim to serve as guidance or inspiration, the topic has included three reference use-cases:
- Use case 1 – in the area of Digital Product Passport #DPP, textiles and circular economy. The scope is a Producer Responsibility Organization Information System (PRO-IS) that would complement and interface with the Digital Product Passports (DPPs) and hence close data together with material loops. Other data-space use-cases leveraging on DPP capacity to create value for circular economy and sustainability in general are also welcome.
- Use case 2 – in the area of environmental and sustainability reporting. The scope is to support private operators with solutions in their journey to collect, verify and share “data-points” across their value chains, in order to calculate scope 3 GHG emissions, deforestation caused by commodities, biodiversity impact, water use etc.
- Use case 3 – in the area of Forest Monitoring and Confidentiality Preserving Technologies. The scope is to train machine learning models that infer Forest Indicators from Earth Observation via using in-situ data (National Forest Inventories) as training data-sets without compromising their confidentiality features.
