A number of leading European R&I stakeholder organisations have endorsed a joint statement calling for increased recognition and funding for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) programme. This initiative follows concerns over the programme’s lack of visibility in recent EU strategies, such as Mario Draghi’s report and specific Mission Letters for the proposed European Commissioners.

The joint statement was initiated by LERU, the association of Leading European Research Universities. The statement highlights the ciritical role MSCA plays in nurturing talent, fostering groundbreaking research, strengthening global collaborations, and enhancing European competitiveness. It also celebrates the programme’s legacy of excellence and innovation, outlining its impressive track record and showcasing key examples of MSCA-supported research. The signatories urge the European Commission, Parliament, and Council to recognise the MSCA’s invaluable contributions by increasing its budget, while maintaining its purely bottom-up research character, thereby empowering even more researchers to excel.

The joint statement is endorsed by LERU, AURORA, CESAER, COIMBRA Group, EPSO, EUA, EuroTech, The Guild, Initiative for Science in Europe, MSCA Alumni, Science Europe and YERUN.
