In 2025, the European Commission put forward a total of €2 trillion for the EU’s 2028-2034 budget, the multiannual financial framework (MFF). Today, the European Court of Auditors (ECA) expresses its views on two legislative proposals: Erasmus+ in the fields of education, training, youth and sport, and AgoraEU in the fields of culture, democracy and media.

The EU has several flagship initiatives supporting education, democracy, media and youth in Europe and beyond. For the 2028-2034 MFF, the Commission proposes not only to substantially increase the budgets dedicated to those initiatives, but also to streamline them by merging several programmes into two single regulations: the new Erasmus+ and AgoraEU.
