The European Commission has recently opened the registration for this year’s edition of the European Research & Innovation (R&I) Days, which is due to take place on 16–17 September 2025 at The Square in Brussels. This sixth edition of the R&I Days will bring together policymakers, researchers, business leaders and the wider innovation community to discuss how research and innovation drive Europe’s competitiveness, sustainability and industrial leadership and underpin the EU’s top priorities.

The event will take place amid discussions on the EU’s next long-term budget and key policy actions such as:

  1. Startup and Scaleup Strategy,
  2. European Life Sciences Strategy,
  3. AI in Science Strategy
  4. European Innovation
  5. European Research Area

Amongst other items on the agenda, the programme includes a keynote speech by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and opening remarks by Commissioner for Start-ups, Research and Innovation, Ekaterina Zaharieva. With regard to the ERA, the second day includes a session on the upcoming ERA Act and on Choose Europe for Science.

The event will take place in Brussels and online. The Commission is inviting the European R&I community to join the event for high-level discussions, engaging panels and networking opportunities to shape the future of EU research and innovation.
