The european Commission has published a booklet on the Africa–Europe collaboration under the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2021–2022, including Africa Initiative I, GH EDCTP3 JU, ERC grants, and MSCA. With around €650 million invested in 368 projects, African partners played key roles in areas such as infectious diseases and sustainable development. The projects featured in the booklet are presented in accordance with the four priorities of the AU-EU R&I cooperation, namely Public Health, Green Transition, Innovation and Technology, and Capacities for Science.

The Africa-EU Partnership is the formal political channel for the EU’s relations with Africa. It was established in April 2000 and continues to be guided by the Joint Africa-EU Strategy, which was adopted in December 2007. A Joint Vision for 2030 was adopted in February 2022.
