On the occasion of fifteen years of Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs), the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is presenting fact sheets on all its KICs. The KICs aim at bolstering entrepreneurial education and skills development, research-driven innovation, and business creation and acceleration across Europe.
Each factsheet provides a snapshot of the EIT KICs’ key activities, illustrating their extensive partnership network, geographical reach, impact numbers, and success stories, as well as testimonials from partners and beneficiaries. Additionally, the factsheets offer insights into the progress of the EIT KICs in achieving financial sustainability. The EIT has successfully steered its first three EIT KICs, Climate-KIC, EIT Digital, and EIT InnoEnergy to achieve financial sustainability beyond 2025.
With a Call for Proposals currently open to launch its next Knowledge and Innovation Community in water, marine and maritime ecosystems, the EIT Community currently counts nine KICs, each dedicated to tackling a major societal challenge through innovation. The EIT points out that with local offices across Europe – in every EU Member State and beyond – the EIT Community forms Europe’s largest innovation ecosystem, connecting local innovation ecosystems with the resources of its Europe-wide network.
