The ERA Forum Sub-Group ‘Inclusive Gender Equality in the ERA’ has released its position paper on FP10. In its position, the group emphasises the importance of advancing inclusive gender equality in the upcoming Framework Programme 10 to enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of the European Research Area. Significant progress has been made during Horizon Europe, including implementing Gender Equality Plans (GEPs) as an eligibility criterion and integrating gender dimensions in research and innovation (R&I) content, the paper states.

The document provides several recommendations:

  • maintaining and enhancing GEP requirements,
  • integrating gender analysis into R&I,
  • engaging the business sector in gender equality efforts,
  • funding gender-focused research,
  • implementing rigorous policy monitoring and evaluation,
  • addressing work-life balance and care costs,
  • ensuring safe working environments,
  • including gender expertise at the proposal stage
