Business Europe has published its vision for EU Research and Innovation for 2024-2029. The business association calls for the creation of an attractive climate for investment and innovation in Europe and for increased investments in R&I in line with the 3%-of-GDP target. The paper addresses the gap between the EU und international players and calls for a change in the course of action. Otherwise the long-term competitiveness of the EU iwould be under serious threat.
Business Europe proposes the following nine policy priorities for action:
– Adopt innovation-friendly regulation
– Prioritise EU funding for industrial competitiveness
– Reinforce collaboration and R&I ecosystems
– Strengthen public-private partnerships
– Secure robust engagement with industry
– Assess the performance of funding instruments
Improve coherence and synergies
– Enhance international collaboration
– Attract and educate a skilled workforce.
