Talks to start on Swiss association to Horizon Europe

The European Commission has announced that it is ready to start talks on Swiss association to the EU’s research and innovation programme, Horizon Europe, after blocking the country from joining for almost three years.

Despite taking part in past EU R&I programmes, Switzerland was frozen out from the current one after its government walked away from talks on a broader relationship agreement in 2021.

Maroš Šefčovič🇪🇺 on X: “Today, the @EU_Commission endorsed the common understanding with Switzerland, reached after 18 months of exploratory talks. It will frame the negotiation of a broad package between the EU and Switzerland. This is a welcome and important step in our bilateral relationship. https://t.co/KsmCK45pct” / X (twitter.com)
