Four universities in the country among 11 new members of EUA group

The European University Association has expanded its membership in Ukraine, with institutions from that country making up four of 11 additions to its ranks.

Partnerships with, and support for, Ukraine from European universities has increased dramatically since the Russian invasion of 2022, with many researchers still hoping more can be done to support colleagues whose work and lives have been disrupted by the conflict.

EUA, which represents more than 850 universities and organisations in 49 countries, added 11 members to its roster on 27 October. Among them, universities from Ukraine were the most prevalent.

The new full members of the EUA are:

  • Bauhaus University Weimar (Germany)
  • Atlantic Technological University (Ireland)
  • Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa (Poland)
  • Medical University of Gdańsk (Poland)
  • Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas (Ukraine)
  • Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University (Ukraine)
  • Khmelnytskyi National University (Ukraine)
  • Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture (Ukraine)

Three institutions were also given associate member states:
