Anne L’Huillier and Ferenc Krausz, two researchers who received substantial funding from the EU, have been named winners of this year’s Nobel Prize in Physics. Together with Pierre Agostini, they are being rewarded for their experimental methods for producing attosecond light pulses to study the dynamics of electrons in matter.
Ferenc Krausz and Anne L’Huillier have both received funding from the European Research Council (ERC), through several Advanced Grants worth almost €9.5 million, as well as for their participation in 14 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) projects and other projects funded by previous research and innovation programmes: Horizon 2020, the 5th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP5), and the 6th and 7th Framework Programmes for Research and Innovation.
