panish ministers are currently holding a series of meetings in the Committees of the European Parliament (EP) parliamentary committees in order to present the priorities of the Spanish Presidency of the Council during the second half of 2023.

On 20 September 2023, Minister of Science and Innovation Diana Morant-Ripoll presented the Spanish Council Presidency’s priorities to the ITRE (Industry, Research and Energy) Committee. She also announced that the Presidency will analyse the impact of the Recovery Fund on research policies. On space policy, she highlighted the importance of programmes like Copernicus and argued for their security to be bolstered.

At the Committe of Culture and Education, Joan Subirats, acting Minister for Universities, told MEPs that the Presidency’s priorities are the “European Universities” initiative, sexist violence and sexual harassment in higher education, as well as improving access to education for vulnerable groups.
